Sun Star 1:18 1951 Kaiser Henry J
Henry J Kaiser finally got to build his 'people's car' in 1951 after five years in the car business. In hindsight he would have been better spending the money on a new V8 for the larger Kaiser models. The Henry J wasn't such a great car and was a bit of a flop. It used the smaller engines from the Willys Aero, since Kaiser had bought the Willys Corporation, mainly to get Jeep – a wise move as it turned out. Bad decisions and massive competition led to Kaiser ending production of passenger cars in the USA in 1955 and moving the operation to Argentina where it continued quite successfully for many years, building Kaisers like the Manhattan and later Ramblers and Renaults under licence. Jeep remained in the USA as part of Kaiser-Jeep until it was sold to American Motors Corporation in 1970.
